Release DVPI Version 0.95

Release DVPI Version 0.95

Version 0.95 is a candidate version of Version 1.0
so, If there are no major problems you won't need to upgrade to Version 1.0

DVPi uses the USRP Client protocol. When you install and use DVSwitch, you must read and comply with the license that appears. The user is responsible for the license for the use of DVPi.

2.What was added in Version 0.9

2.1 DVPi is stabilized.

  The goal is 10 hours of nondisruptive operation, but most of the test devices have been running for more than 24 hours. The main purpose of Versoin 1.0 is stabilization

  I tested stability for about 2 weeks with a few people who helped me with the test.

2.2 Viewing the status of other Talkgroup is now possible again. (bottom line in TG Button)
I have created a server program that manages the DMR Talkgroup status. Several Amateur radio operator are servicing the server.
You don't have to do anything for this.

You can use this feature without doing any work. But if the Talkgroup Status server doesn't work, you can choose another server.

2.3.ThumbDV settings are now supported by DVPiManager.
When you use DVPi in Dual Mode, you can set VFOA and VFOB independently.

2.4 DVSwitch 1.6.0 is supported if you install DVSwitch on DVPi (builtin DVSwitch)

2.5 Several modifications were made for the use of D-STAR. (Ex: Support Unlink Button in D-Star Mode)

2.6 Recording function has been added. It was added in Version 0.88

When you press the record button, the sound output from the speaker is recorded. You can export to Wav file from DVPi Manager.

2.7 And Minor bugs have been fixed and minor UI changes.
 - The color of the underline of the TG button has been changed to make it easier to see. As the QSO time increases, it changes from blue to white.
 - The display method of the LOG Window on the right side of the screen has been changed. Since the callsign is the most important, changed it to a way that all callsign letter appear. (display order = minute callsign: Talkggroup )
 - more...

3.conclusion
The horse.brandmeister.network server was down, so it took time to create a replacement service. Also, for Version 1.0, I have been testing it for quite a while to increase stability.
Perhaps this version will be Version 1.0 without much change.
If you are using Version 0.95 you do not need to update to Version 1.0.

Thanks for using
Ian KD8CEC

      There is no TG Info button on DVPi.
      If an encoder is installed, TG Info is displayed automatically after a while when the encoder is turned.

      Thanks for the comments.
      I don't know C4FM well yet. But I will study it when I have a chance.
      Later, when making DVPi 2.0, I will consider adding C4FM.
      Thank you again for your opinion.

  9. Hello first of all its a great way of doing DMR and with a small RPI and a display it makes it also mobile using inet via my phone.. great work and many thanks. I only noticed that using the display its hard to get te soft keyboard. With VNC its just a click but with the display its hard to select maybe an extra menu button would help? Using 0.95 now. Keep up the good work!

  11. Hi Ian,

    Do you have any information/instructions for the printed circuit board V4, I have purchased them and I am finding it a bit difficult to follow the LA_CARATULA v4

  12. Hello,
    DVPi is an excellent project. Thank you for your efforts. I've installed DVPi 0.95 on a RPi3+. Everything works perfectly, except the rotary encoder and buttons. I made and applied all the settings on dvpimanager, but neither the encoder nor the buttons work.
    [INTERFACE]
    USE_ENCODER=True
    GPIO_ENCA=26
    GPIO_ENCB=24
    GPIO_ENCSW=29
    Is there any ohter setting for this?

      with these parameters, everything works for me, the software is perfect

  13. Good morning Lan

    Is it possible to add additional servers not present on the DVPi Manager to the already existing list "Find BM my country"? where can i add them?

    Thanks Maurizio

  14. Ian, This is a really neat project, and I was unaware that you were actively working on this. I can't wait to give it a try. I also can't wait to see what's next. I have my hopes for a uBITX version update for Farhan's Ver 6 stock display, but it's not too hard to drop a Nextion in there and just use your latest version. Anyway, maybe something SDR related next? Thanks for all your hard work!

  15. Hi Ian. What a great project! I have been using DVSwitch, DVLink , Peanut and BlueDV but DVPi has become my favorite platform. My question is can DVPi be installed on an existing Raspbian Buster image rather than having to use the ful DVPi image. If so, can you please point me to the steps? Thanks.

  16. Hello Ian,

    How do I access the dvswitch dvs panel? I would like to check for upgrades to the dvswitch application.

  17. Hi Ian. Thanks for the great project.

    It seems that just connecting a PTT switch as described in the documentation (either the simple setup or the "safety" setup) does not function unless a hardware rotary encoder is also attached. Even though the Encoder is enabled in dvpimanager as described in the documentation, This has been verified by at least 4 users. My goal is just to have the external PTT to work without any additional hardware.

    1. Good morning Ken

      If you do the whole procedure for additional Hardware and then use the DVPi Maneger, go to the "Setting to use Encoder, PTT, and VOX Functions" section and enable or disable the functions you need, you can get the PTT only function ...

  18. Hi Maurizio. Thanks very much for your reply. What I am trying to do is NOT install any hardware other than the PTT Switch on RPi pin 38 (or any other pin). Does your reply mean that you need to install all the hardware like the rotary encoder and then just disable it? That's not what I am trying to accomplish. Thanks again and Happy New Year.

    1. Yes !! this is exactly what you have to do, you have to proceed as I was installing Hardware, do all the required programming as per the procedure and then disable what you do not want to install ..

      Hello I3YBD, Maurizio Verona

    2. In this way everything works even the touchscreen so you can use it directly and install only the PTT.

      Delete
    3. If you are an electronic you can also install a Handheld Microphone instead of headphones, to interface the PTT of the Microphone with the Raspberry use a Relay that acts as an interface between them ... I have seen this that the DS5QDR colleague used it.

  19. Hi Lan, I would like to know if the dvpi sources are available to implement other functions (ysf, m17 etc.) in this way also other OMs can participate in the project.

    1. Hi i have got blocked of a few Dstar servers fron the admim saying my dmr id is in the my call box ?

      This is what the admin says

      If you can make sure your call sign only is in the MyCall field, I can request you to be unblocked. It was really the DMR ID showing up in the wrong field that was the problem.

  22. W9GIL here.

    I have had no issues with DVPi for the past several months. I use it to feed traffic from our talk group to our website (www.NA9PL.com) however just about a week ago it lost connection with BM server and I am unable to restore. Did anyone have a similar issue? What has changed that it stopped working? On the screen everything looks normal but I can't see it being connected to BM server. Thank in advance for any inpuits!

    1. Hi. I'm having a similar problem. All worked fine, and yesterday and today I cannot get the Reg OK, no info keeps in the screen. But If I press ptt, I can see the activity on bm. Ah be sure the you have the same TX and rx frequency in the file etc/MVDMM_Bridge/MVDMM_Bridge.ini file. If not Bm won't let you connect. Even that, now, I cannot get the reg OK. I cannot use it for now. Perhaps it's happening to someone else. Thanx. CX9CPE, PABLO. 73.

Release CEC Firmware v1.200 for uBITX All version(include V2, V3, V4, V5)

Release CEC Firmware v1.200 for uBITX All Version (include v2, v3, v4, v5) I did the firmware work for v5 when uBITX V5 was released, but I release it now. I received the feedback from a thankful beta tester and tested it myself by converting my uBITX v3 to v5 but I was not sure. I ordered the uBITX V5 and delivered the correct uBITX V5, so I made a little more fine-tuning. If you use V2, V3, V4, you do not need to update this firmware.

uBITX with Nextion LCD (CEC Firmware) - Installation and Introduction

uBITX with Nextion LCD (CEC Firmware) -  Installation and Introduction uBITX CEC Firmware supports various LCD since Version 1.08 (16x02 Parallel, 20x04 Parallel, 16x02  I2C, 20x04 I2C, 16x02 Dual LCD with I2C). Supports Nextion LCD (Graphic LCD) from Version 1.09, Version 1.09x is primarily aimed at Nextion LCD support. Also 1.09x will continue to be Beta version. If you want a stable version, please use 1.08 or 1.1 version to be released in the future.

How to connect SDR (RTL-SDR) to uBITX and uBITX Firmware CEC Version V1.071 (Beta) Release

How to connect SDR (RTL-SDR) to uBITX (uBITX Firmware CEC Version V1.071 Beta Release, At the end of the beta test, we will release to 1.08.) uBITX and SDR usage will be divided into several and will be posted. Some users have attempted to connect SDR to uBITX. I also supported SDR connections from uBITX since CEC Firmware 1.070 (Beta).
